“I say what I want to say, and I do things the way I want to do them.” Majestic in her colourful boubous, Oumou Sangaré, one of Mali’s great voices, is a true source of inspiration for all African women, whose cause she defends. Originally from Wassoulou, a forest region south of the Niger River, this recipient in the 2001 UNESCO musical awards has been singing for 20 years both about the traditions of her region and the social struggles she leads. A true concert event!
